Abuse of Power? Blatant Ignorance? You Decide.

I apologize for the delay in our series entitled: “The Art of Inconsistency – One Man’s Crusade for Greatness“, but I felt compelled to write and post this blog after witnessing, first hand, Todd M. Tersigni’s abuse of power at last night’s Phillipsburg Town Council Meeting.

This, again, serves as more proof that Todd M. Tersigni’s spoken words as an elected official holds absolutely no weight, and his aggressive actions on display last evening demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt that he feels superior to us “lesser” people.

To be quite frank, I’m not sure the title of Council President is suiting Todd M. Tersigni too well…perhaps he may draw up an ordinance referring to himself as “King Tersigni”. As a matter of fact, I will be referring to Todd M. Tersigni as King Tersigni from here on in just so I’m prepared for when the ordinance is drawn up, presented, and ultimately passed.

Where to start?

Of course this was just a formality, because King Tersigni already knows Blaine Fehley on a personal level.

For the record, he has been private messaging Mr. Fehley on multiple occasions recently making statements of “earning his trust” and at one time, even bought and paid for the jumpstart of what is now known as the infamous Phillipsburg Raw website that Mr. Fehley maintains and updates.

Moving forward, after Blaine Fehley announces his name and address, he makes reference to the Council Chamber’s speaker system and how the attendees cannot hear what is being said. He then asks King Tersigni if anything can be done about the speaker system because, “Sometimes when [Council] speaks the [public] cannot hear”.

King Tersigni, leans his head to the side resembling that of a German Shepard that doesn’t understand what its master is asking, and states, “You could not hear me talk tonight?” Not only is King Tersigni’s grammar use a crime, but his tone is that of unconcern with a hint of sarcasm.

Mr. Fehley looks to the back of the room and other members in attendance validate his claims by notifying the King that they too cannot hear.

You would think a concerned King would want to help his people when the masses are in agreement with a request but instead, King Tersigni evades the question and with an even more insensible tone states, “What’s your next question?”

Now before the fireworks really begin….allow me to stop for a moment and let’s reflect as to why King Tersigni did not declare war on the Town Council chambers sound system as he did on the trash not more than two weeks ago.

I personally believe it’s because King Tersigni is well aware that the trash does not fight back and the voters do.

It’s much easier to fight an inanimate object than it is to tackle one that actually has a voice the King cannot keep quiet….and this makes him look weak and defeated.

So instead the King, acknowledging ignorance of the issue at hand, chose to ignore Mr. Fehleys appeal rather than provide him with a knowledgeable answer, and just wanted to move on…AND this is exactly what Mr. Fehley did.

And what happens next is magical….It’s like a gift from the Gods dropped upon our doorstep for all to share…and thanks to Mr. Fehley….it was recorded so we, the public….the voters….could witness how King Tersigni is unfit for his position and ultimately for the position of Mayor.

Mr. Fehley proceeds to state that King Tersigni, at the last Council Meeting, vowed to sign complaints personally against the trash violators and while quoting the King’s own words, King Tersigni leans forward in a bullish manner, raises his hand, and attempts to interrupt Mr. Fehley, however Mr. Fehley presses on to continue the quote.

Upon completing the quote, King Tersigni states that Mr. Fehley wanted to know who the violators were and “frankly, it was none of [his] business”.

King Tersigni then proceeds to state, “And what you’re writing on a public forum…” and before he could continue with his sentence Mr. Fehley stated the complaints were Town Business.

BOOM! EXPLOSION!

The King becomes defensive, leans even more forward, raises his left hand and points his finger at Mr. Fehley and states, “You let me talk. You let me talk now!”

Comically…Mr. Fehley responds, “Get Yours Buddy.”

And the Gavel comes down….

King Tersigni again points to Blaine Fehley and says, “Get your stuff. You’re out of here.” He then pompously points to the Police Chief and says, “Chief, escort him off the property.”

To which the Police Chief responds something to the effect of, “It looks like he’s leaving”…and doesn’t even make an effort to give in to the King’s command.

The King asks if anyone else has any public petitions and then attempts to instigate the incident further by stating Mr. Fehley had five minutes to leave.

You can hear Mr. Fehley packing his things and then the recording stops.

So let’s break this incident down so we can truly see what an arrogant narcissist our King is and how he cowardly seeks to retreat from a situation which could have been so easily answered within the confines of the law.

King Tersigni’s body language to Mr. Fehley was defensive and argumentative. He leaned his chair forward to engage in and attempted to entice a hostile conversation with Mr. Fehley because he wasn’t getting his way. He was angry. How dare the King be questioned? And when Mr. Fehley remained cooperative and unusually calm, the King’s anger erupted…

It should be noted here that Finger Pointing while speaking is an authoritative gesture and people do this while talking down to someone in an aggressive and angry manner. It’s confrontational, invasive, and offensive…all of which the King adopted when using this gesture to rule the room with his self-perceived authority.

And his body language evoked aggression as if he were superior to others in the room and as if the other attendees, including Mr. Fehley had lesser rights and less valid truths than he. King Tersigni’s actions were nothing short of bullishness.

To be fair, former Council Presidents have dealt with a much worse, fiercer, and, at times, more vulgar Blaine Fehley and he was never removed from Council Chambers. So why now? Personal Vendetta? Abuse of Power? Did the weaker male merely need to urinate upon his territory in an attempt to fool the people of his false strength?

And how did King Tersigni really believe that by signing complaints against law-breakers would remain private? Complaints are a matter of public record unless they are of a sensitive nature such as the case in child custody cases, certain divorce proceedings, and in some cases, the facts surrounding cases of guardianship.  None of which is the case when filing a complaint again trash violators.

So how, is this none of the Public’s business? Unless the King didn’t want to admit he was lying and really did not sign complaints against these violators. More lip service perhaps?

He could have simply clarified why this was “None of Mr. Fehley’s Business” but instead he chose to have Mr. Fehley removed and then spoke to the Police Chief as if he were the hired help. This man’s ego is now so overblown that he truly believes he can order the Police Chief to carry out his personal vendetta.

Kudos to Chief Faulborn for not getting up and giving in to King Tersigni’s act of disrespect.

It just proves, even more so, that King Tersigni’s false illusion of power has gone directly to his head and beyond.

King Todd M. Tersigni will go to great lengths to be noticed. He will ride around all day in his silver chariot with the Liberty Construction insignia and act as if his own presence provides we the people with a sense of safety.

Quite to the contrary….every time we see that silver chariot the people are left wondering what lies or agenda is taking place. What will be the actions of this erratic individual and how will the people end up paying for them?

Okay….so the joke is now over. There really is no humor to be found in Todd M. Tersigni’s actions here because this is truly an abuse of power and it is only a small sample of what we are to expect if this man were elected as our Mayor.

He already believes he is owed more respect than he gives and this is apparent in his actions…Can you imagine what will happen if he were Mayor?

The voters need to be more aware of his erratic and arrogant behavior instead of being subjected to his face on the Town of Phillipsburg Facebook Page with his vapid accomplishments and awards that only he cares about.

Sure he’s a member of the Rotary Club, a member of the Warren Heights Condo Association, Exchange Club of Warren County, Solid Waste Advisory Committee, Public Access Committee, the Warren County Economic Advisory Committee, and whatever else he can get elected to….but why can’t he just be a Councilman? Why can’t he just do what he was elected to do?

If you counted all of the hours that Todd M. Tersigni spent on these boards, committees, driving around town in his truck, writing on Facebook, and taking pictures of himself…I bet you would find he spends less time being an actual Councilman.

He should be working for the people and not against them.

Instead…he lays awake at night dreaming of becoming Mayor.

Little does he know…a majority of us are having nightmares of the same.

NPD or NOT?

If you have met Todd M. Tersigni, well then you will invariably find yourself relating to this blog and its entries more often than not. Especially this one, in particular.

Before, beginning with our series of entries entitled, “The Art of Inconsistency – One Man’s Crusade for Greatness“, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a medical condition with you that I personally believe may explain the erratic  behavior of our Council President.

There is a disorder in existence known as Narcissistic Personality Disorder and its definition is such:

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.”

Sound familiar?

An inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration could lead to endless hours of posting photographs of themselves receiving awards, attending dinners, making donations, or simply requesting to be thanked or acknowledged by everyone you come in contact with.

The symptoms of this disorder, as listed by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, are listed below:

  1. Expects to be recognized as superior and special, without superior accomplishments.
  2. Expects constant attention, admiration, and positive reinforcement from others.
  3. Envies others and believes others envy him or her.
  4. Is pre-occupied with thoughts and fantasies of great success, enormous attractiveness, power, and intelligence.
  5. Lacks the ability to emphasize with the feelings or desires of others.
  6. Is arrogant in attitudes and behavior.
  7. Has expectations of special treatment that are unrealistic.
  8. Is interpersonally exploitive and takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends.
  9. Has trouble keeping healthy relationships with others.
  10. Is easily hurt or rejected.
  11. Appears unemotional
  12. Exaggerating special achievements and talents and setting unrealistic goals for himself/herself
Now when you go through this list, if you have met or have interacted with this man, I am sure that you can envision him displaying these symptoms over and over again.

From his Facebook posts to the many times he attends events and hand’s his phone to someone asking for a picture…from the questions like, “Who do you think is running for Mayor?” and “Do you think they can beat me?” to the statements like, “I was the highest vote getter” are all demonstrations of the narcissistic behavior outlined in the NPD definition.

He likes to hear that everyone believes he is “The Man” and he will ask you to make sure to tell everyone that he is “The Man”. For a man that is supposed to be in charge of the Town Council as President, one would think his time could be better spent actually working actively in the position that he was elected for instead of feeding his endless desire for attention.

His constant need for someone to hit the “Like” button or his odd requests that people thank him publicly on Facebook and/or at events for his actions are also perfect examples of this disorder.

Because we are not medical professionals, we can’t seriously diagnose Councilman Todd M. Tersigni but this observation and the facts presented in his behavior are enough to sway the opinions of many.

It is because of this behavior that I am not comfortable with Todd M. Tersigni as my Councilman, nor would I be if he were our Mayor. His behavior is unpredictable and erratic and he places too much emphasis on the importance of Facebook and his “Like” button.

Theoretically speaking….What if he were our Mayor and someone doesn’t like his “Spring Time Flower” post? Would he then retaliate against that individual or have a meltdown during a meeting? Are these the risks the average voter is willing to take?

I’d rather our leadership be secure and firm.

Not easily persuaded or overly emotional.

I’d rather our leadership be knowledgeable in all areas of Town Government and not just media relations.

Take a step back for a moment and try to imagine Todd M. Tersigni as Mayor of Phillipsburg. What will he do? Will he have a plan that includes more than just driving around town providing us all with lip service like he has during his tenure as Councilman?

Let’s face it…He hasn’t accomplished anything as a Councilman, so how can we bank on a “Better Phillipsburg” with him as Mayor? Perhaps during his future campaign he will persistently point out that he secured money from the hospital for the Walter’s Park Pool or that he “invented” the “Nite Watch” program…all of which we heard before when he ran for Town Council.

He hasn’t any real accomplishments to add to his resume other than being elected President of, or given awards by some of the clubs he belongs to. None of which actually involves him accomplishing anything he was elected by the people to do. Sure, he declared a war on trash…but is he picking it up? And what did it take for him to finally make this decision? It wasn’t the two years of seeing numerous pictures of properties laced with trash on the sidewalks and alleys throughout town posted online by one resident…It was the fact that his neighbor was seen throwing trash out of a window in his own neighborhood. He only seemed to care when it affected him…not the people.

Simply put…He’s just not smart enough or independent enough to get the job done. He cannot think for himself and is easily persuaded.

I don’t know about you…but I want an elected official that isn’t afraid of what others think and doesn’t have a hidden agenda.

So in all reality…Todd M. Tersigni as Mayor would set Phillipsburg back 50 years instead of progressing forward.

In another year’s time when he’s not elected as Mayor one can only hope that he will reflect heavily on the fact that he should have concentrated more on being a good Councilman before constantly planning to be our next Mayor.

Until next time….

The Journey Ahead...A Revelation.

When a man stands firm upon the foundation of his words, he must be sure that his actions aren’t the cause of a crack in its structure.

With this in mind, that very man should live true without deceit to avoid such a structural crack. Without doing so this behavior will eventually lead to the crumbling of his foundation.

This blog and the truths contained herein will reveal the many cracks…

Prepare yourself and enjoy the journey.
